King of Prussia - March 25, 2010
Out of over 360 hotels that cater to the Philadelphia-area business market, only slightly more than a handful have
meeting spaces that meet the exacting standards of the International Association of Conference Centers. Like all
active IACC members, The Liberty Conference Center at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge Hotel complies with its universal
criteria to assure the most productive meeting environment. The recent $30k upgrade is a valuable investment that the
Liberty Conference Center sees as a means to providing the best meeting experience possible.
"What's particularly appealing is that we are listening to our clients and sharing these enhancements with them,"
said Bob McGowan, general manager. "Both a high-resolution DPL projector and new lighting control interface system
in our amphitheater will impress meeting participants as well as the most savvy trainers. Additionally, for added
entertainment, we included a Blue Ray DVD player and TV tuner for our groups to enjoy during breaks. All of this
can be controlled by a wireless touch screen panel or via a wall mounted touch panel."
Commenting on the importance of the client feedback, McGowan added, "We continue to strive to find improvements that
our clients appreciate. This system upgrade is just one more indication that we are meeting the high standards we
have set for ourselves. The Crowne Plaza Valley Forge is dedicated to providing its guests with the best service on
every level."
Located across from the King of Prussia Mall, the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge features 225 deluxe guest rooms; two
elegantly designed ballrooms for social and corporate events; complimentary access to Bally's Fitness Center; the
state-of-the-art, dedicated Liberty Conference Center with 130-seat amphitheater; and Chef Spaulding's award-winning
cuisine at Stirling's Restaurant.
The Center easily handles up to 130 in a tiered amphitheater with a large, disappearing media screen and high-backed,
10-positon ergonomic chairs. That kind of specially engineered space is one of the IACC member requirements - along
with skilled, certified conference planners with a support team as well as a complete meeting package with guest rooms,
three meals a day scheduled to respond to the flexible meeting schedule, continuous refreshment breaks, 24-hour meeting
rooms, conference services and audiovisual support.
King of Prussia - April 04, 2008
There was a time when the Montgomery County Democratic Committee
couldn't draw flies to its annual spring reception.
That
was because the county was decidedly Republican, and had been
for a long time.
But with Democratic presidential hopefuls
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama criss-crossing the state
leading up to the big April 22 primary, it was appearances by
the candidates' surrogates -- Chelsea Clinton with Gov. Ed
Rendell in tow representing her mother and Massachusetts Sen.
Ted Kennedy representing Obama - that drew between 500 and 600
local party faithful to the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge Hotel
Thursday evening for the committee's spring reception
.
"I don't have to tell you how
exciting a time this is for Montgomery County," said county
Democratic Chairman Marcel Groen. "For decades, this county has
been a Republican stalwart. But before April 22, I can assure
you we will be the majority party in this county. We are here to
stay."
As evidence, Groen said that as
far back as 10 or 12 years ago, registered Republicans
outnumbered registered Democrats by a 2-1 margin in the county.
But as of April 3, there were approximately 240,000 registered
Republicans in Montgomery County as compared to more than
237,000 registered Democrats.
For Sen. Clinton's supporters,
daughter Chelsea was the main event.
"It's so exciting to see
so much support for my mom," said the 28-year-old Clinton, who
along with Rendell worked the room chatting with supporters and
posing for pictures. "I do believe she is the most progressive
and prepared candidate. And it's great to be here with Gov.
Rendell and so many others who strongly support my mom."
But the political heavy lifting in support of Sen. Clinton was
left to Rendell, who good-naturedly suggested that those not
showing him the courtesy of listening to him during his time on
the microphone would have their taxes audited.
"I've been campaigning with
Democratic presidential candidates since 1980 and I can assure
you that Hillary Clinton is the best-prepared candidate I have
ever worked with - even better than Bill Clinton," said the
governor. "I believe we have two good candidates, but we've got
one candidate who is ready to go now, someone who I guarantee
will never rest to achieve our goals."
Rendell urged those who are still
undecided to look at the Web sites of each candidate and examine
the four big issues: the economy, health care, energy and
education.
"I guarantee you Hillary Clinton gets it," on
those issues, said Rendell.
Kennedy, who arrived later in the
evening after Chelsea Clinton and Gov. Rendell had exited, was
just as passionate about Obama.
"I've got the best news
for you, and that's nine months from now, George Bush won't be
the president," said Kennedy, who was flanked on stage by some
of the local politicos. "Make no mistake, the reason you are on
the move here in Montgomery County is that you have the men and
women here who have done the hard work."
The senior senator from
Massachusetts with the most famous and powerful family name in
the Democratic Party, stayed on point for Obama talking about
the economy, health care, education and the war in Iraq.
"The
reason you are here this evening is that you care about some of
the fundamental things in your life - you care about your family
and its future," said Kennedy. "There is a great deal of anxiety
and uncertainty out there and the question is, are we going to
have someone lift us up as a nation so that we can come together
and solve our problems?
"We have an opportunity to take a
hold of our challenges and conquer our challenges," Kennedy
said. "I hope that on inauguration day, when Barack Obama raises
his right hand to take the oath, that we have a new sense of
hope and that our greatest days will be ahead."

They share a dinner table,
but at this point they're not on the
same page when it comes to whom they
would like to see as the next
president of the United States.
One thing they do know, however,
is that they'd both prefer it to be
a Democrat.
"I'm for Obama,
but my wife is for Hillary," said
Roy Roberts of Wyndmoor, whose wife,
Jane, is a former Springfield
Township commissioner. "Who do we
support? The eventual Democratic
nominee. But ask us who we're going
to vote for and we will tell you the
truth."
The couple was among the
nearly 600 Democratic faithful
Thursday evening to see and hear
surrogates for the candidates -
Chelsea Clinton representing her
mother, Sen. Hillary Clinton, and
Sen. Ted Kennedy, representing Sen.
Barack Obama - at the Montgomery
County Democratic Committee's spring
reception at the Crowne Plaza Valley
Forge Hotel in King of Prussia.
"I'm a Hillary supporter, but
either one will make a great
candidate," said Mike Paston, an
Upper Dublin School District board
member. "There is a common bond of
not repeating the Bush years."
Paston said it was exciting for
Montgomery County to have a national
profile leading up to the April 22
primary.
"Chelsea has done a
great job for her mother's campaign
and really, how often does any
Kennedy come to Montgomery County?"
Paston said.
His colleague on the
Upper Dublin school board, Joseph
Chmielewski, co-chair of the Upper
Dublin Democratic Committee and an
Obama supporter, was just as
enthusiastic at the turnout.
"It's great that at this point in
the campaign, that Pennsylvania
still has a say," Chmielewski said.
Abington Township Ward 7
Commissioner Ernie Peacock said the
candidates for the Democratic
presidential nomination have
energized the party faithful.
"It's a huge event with a lot of
people," said Peacock of the
turnout. "It says a lot about how
far the Democratic Party has come in
Montgomery County and in
Pennsylvania.
Peacock, an Obama
supporter, said the Illinois senator
reminds him of another Kennedy -
President John F. Kennedy - during
Kennedy's run for the presidency in
1960.
"I believe Barack Obama is
truly the candidate of change," said
Peacock. "I respect Hillary Clinton
but I don't want to go backwards,
back to the 1990s."

Conference Center Receives Coveted IACC Certification
King of Prussia - August 1, 2005 - Out of over 360 hotels that cater to the Philadelphia-area business market, only
slightly more than a handful have meeting spaces that meet the exacting standards of the International Association of
Conference Centers. Now one more, the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge, has joined this list, as of July 14.
The International Association of Conference Centers, which awarded membership to the Liberty Conference Center at
the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge Hotel, is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping meeting facilities achieve
the highest quality services. Slightly more than 300 IACC conference centers are in North America, Australia, Denmark,
Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Like all active IACC members, The Liberty Conference Center at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge Hotel complies with 30
universal criteria to assure the most productive meeting environment. The newest meeting space in the area, the
Center easily handles up to 130 in a tiered amphitheater with a large, disappearing media screen and high-backed,
10-positon ergonomic chairs. That kind of specially engineered space is one of the IACC member requirements - along
with appropriate lighting and acoustics, tackable wall surfaces, non-glare writing surfaces and more.
Other requirements are skilled conference planners with a support team as well as a complete meeting package with guest rooms,
three meals a day scheduled to respond to the flexible meeting schedule, continuous refreshment breaks, 24-hour meeting rooms,
conference services and audiovisual support.
"What's particularly appealing are the state-of-the-art amenities," said Bob McGowan, general manager. "Both a high-speed
Internet connection and a power outlet are at each seat in the amphitheater. Although the hard-wired connection is important
for security-conscious groups, a wireless connection is also available in the meeting spaces and throughout the hotel. In
addition, each of four breakout rooms can accommodate up 40 people."
Commenting on the importance of the certification, McGowan added, "Our IACC certification is just one more indication that
we are meeting the high standards we have set for ourselves. The Crowne Plaza Valley Forge is dedicated to providing its
guests with the best service on every level."
On average, conference demand increased 4.3% in 2004, according to IACC's recently released 2005 edition of Trends in the
Conference Center Industry. The report also states that in 2004 IACC facilities filled local companies' need to be
cost-effective and book meetings locally. Noted David Arnold, eastern regional chief executive officer of PKF Consulting
that helped prepare the IACC report: "Apparently there is a high degree of loyalty and satisfaction among groups that use
conference centers. When using a conference center, the success of achieving a meeting's stated goals counts for more than
just the hard dollar R.O.I. Conference centers truly provide an environment that is conducive to a successful meeting."
With over 5,000 square feet of meeting space, the IACC-approved Liberty Conference Center at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge
Hotel is one more reason that Crowne Plaza hotels are known as "The Place to Meet."
Located across from the King of Prussia Mall, the new Crowne Plaza Valley Forge features 225 deluxe guest rooms; two
elegantly designed ballrooms for social and corporate events; complimentary access to Bally's Fitness Center; the
state-of-the-art, dedicated Liberty Conference Center with 130-seat amphitheater; and Chef Spaulding-s award-winning
cuisine at Stirling's Restaurant.
